Distributed FBG cable is a great solution for any application to monitor sensing points for high strain. The FBG array is embedded in a glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) so that expandability and compressiveness of FBG freely changes as the strain. The package has the advantages of protection to the fiber and making the sensor robust and easy to operate and install.
The FBG array is integrated with GFRP and becomes a sensing cable. The sensing cables can be provided with standard fiber optics connectors and standard armored pigtails and can be multiplexed together in series and/or parallel to achieve the sensing network required.
